Jiang Zemin Inspects N. China Province
President Jiang Zemin recently made an inspection tour of north China's Hebei Province, calling for clear thinking under the complicated domestic and international situations.

He urged leading officials at different levels to care about the people, be responsible for the people, show wisdom in helping the people prosper, work harder on matters beneficial to the people, and be practical and diligent.

During his stay in Hebei on November 2-6, Jiang, who is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Zeng Qinghong, an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, visited local factories, villages, schools and research institutions as well as residential blocks.

According to sources, Jiang's visit was focused on the Party's efforts to maintain constant, close relations with the people and to represent the fundamental interests of the majority of the people.

During his tour, Jiang held a series of talks on Party building with local people and officials.

He told local audiences that leading officials at different levels must be good at making overall plans, focusing on major issues, and should correctly handle the relations between reform, development and stability.

During the talks, Jiang reiterated his theory of "Three Represent's", calling for arming the whole Party with Marxism-Lenism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory.

He also called for innovation and constantly pushing forward the cause of the Party and the people by innovation. The whole Party and nation must strengthen unity, he stressed, adding that unity produces a combined force, a fighting capacity and a new productive force.

Jiang, who is also chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), inspected army barracks in the company of Fu Quanyou, a CMC member and chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
