China to Hold Asia-Pacific Cooperation Forum and IULA Asia-Pacific Section MeetingChina will hold the Asia-Pacific Cooperation Forum and the International Union of Local Authorities (IULA) Asia-Pacific Section (ASPAC) Meeting from November 13-18 in its south province of Hainan.The event's organizer, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said Wednesday that the forum will discuss the urban development and industrial restructuring in Asia-Pacific cities. About 200 delegates from the countries and regions around the Pacific Ocean will present at the forum. According to CPAFFC, the event is to provide a platform for cities in the area to discuss experiences and challenges met in their respective economic development processes, so as to enhance their mutual understanding and boost their economic cooperation. IULA, the largest association of local governments in the world, was founded in 1913 with the aim to promote the effective administration, boost the cooperation in environment protection and human resources training. It now has seven regional sections, and the CPAFFC joined the Asia-pacific section in 1999 representing China's local authority. |
