Israeli Troops Withdrawal from Ramallah Possible: Radio

Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer will meet with senior security officials Tuesday night to decide the possible withdrawal from the Palestinian-controlled West Bank city of Ramallah, Israel Radio reported.

Israeli troops reportedly have been preparing for the withdrawal, which might begin late Tuesday night.

The city, together with other five West Bank cities of Bethlehem, Jenin, Qalqilya, Tulkarm and Nablus, were reoccupied by Israeli troops in an unprecedented military operation following the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi on October 17.

Under the pressure from the international community, especially from the United States, Israel has pulled its troops out of Bethlehem and Qalqilya.

A planned withdrawal from Jenin, however, was postponed temporarily by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Monday night, following a bomb explosion in a nearby Jewish settlement.
