Northeast China Province Maintains Sound Economic Performance
Northeast China's Liaoning Province maintained a good economic performance in the first three quarters of this year having a GDP value of 323.2 billion yuan, with a yearly rise of 9 percent.
According to the provincial statistics bureau, agricultural, industrial and tertiary sectors have all undergone economic growth, up 4 percent, 8.4 percent, and 10.4 percent respectively.
Despite a severe drought, a good harvest is still expected and grain output is predicted to be 13.8 million tons.
In the first nine months, the foreign trade volume of the province reached 14.3 billion U.S. dollars, up about 5 percent on the same period of last year. However, due to the global economic slowdown, exports increased by only 0.9 percent to 7.84 billion U.S. dollars.
The foreign investment sector fared much better. In the first three quarters, the province put into use a total 2.1 billion U.S. dollars of foreign investment, an increase of 32 percent.
