Chinese, Lao, Myanma, Thai Foreign Minsters Confer on Combating Drugs

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said on November 6 in Bandar seri Begawan that China will continue its cooperation with other nations in combating drugs.

Tang made the remarks at the informal meeting among the foreign ministers of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

Tang said that drugs are a common threat to the world and one of the important topics in the non-traditional security field.

Common grounds have been reached on fighting drugs during the ministerial-level meetings between the above four countries not long ago, he said.

During Tuesday's meeting, the four foreign ministers agreed on the proposal Thailand has made to hold the leaders meeting on fighting drugs.

They held that four countries should first target the setting goals, and then continue to discuss what is the proper time to hold the leaders meeting.

Tang accompanied Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji to attend the leaders meeting between ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea.
