Hu Jintao and Chirac Talk on Sino-France Relation, Anti-terrorismThe exchanges and cooperation between China and France keep expanding in many fields such as economy and trade, sic-tech, education and culture, Hu said, and the bilateral trade volume also keeps on the rise. Chinese and French Leaders have maintained close contacts and a hot line between the heads of states will be opened soon, he added. Viewed from international situation, China and France share similar or same views and have common interests on many important international issues, said Vice-President. Both China and France advocate for the establishment of a multi-polar world and wish to see the diversity of civilizations preserved. Hu said, "China is willing to reinforce consultation with France on important and strategic international issues such as multipolarization, globalization, anti-terrorist struggle and fight against international crimes". French President Jacques Chirac congratulates China for its success in hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in Shanghai last month. He said French-Chinese relations are developing smoothly. Great potential exists for a further improvement. "France attaches importance to French-Chinese relations and is willing to strengthen consultation with China in the wake of the new international situation," said Chirac. Vice-President Hu is expected to meet with French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin on Tuesday. Hu started his five-nation tour on October 27 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, French President Jacques Chirac, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. Upon his arrival in Lyon on November 2, he expressed his hope that his official visit to France will push Sino-French relations to a new level.
