Chinese Premier Meets Cambodian Prime Minister
Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji exchanged views here Tuesday afternoon with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Zhu said during the meeting that China was happy to see new achievements made in friendly cooperation in various fields under the principles of the Joint Statement on Sino-Cambodian bilateral cooperation since Chinese President Jiang Zemin's successful visit to Cambodia at the end of last year.

He said China is willing to work with Cambodia to keep the momentum of frequent exchange of visits at high levels, to strengthen cooperation in the economic, trade and other fields,and to enrich the traditional relations of good neighorliness and friendship.

Appreciating the achievements made by Cambodia in economic revitalization and national construction, Zhu said China supports Cambodia in hosting the sixth meeting between the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) (10+3).

Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction over the full development of the bilateral relations between Cambodia and China.

He thanked China for its support and help to Cambodia in maintaining national independence and sovereighty as well as in revitalizing national economy.

Hun Sen appreciated China's important contributions to the strengthening of its cooperation with ASEAN and to bridging the development gap in the region.

Cambodia is willing to work hard with China to further promote the exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries, the Cambodian prime minister said.

Hun Sen extended warm welcome to premier Zhu to pay an official visit to Cambodia later next year and to attend the meeting of leaders between ASEAN and China, Japan and ROK in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia.
