FM Spokesman: China Welcomes UN First Committee Adopting Resolution on ABM Treaty
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhu Bangzao said Tuesday that China welcomes the first committee of the United Nations General Assembly, which is in charge of disarmament and international security, to adopt a resolution calling for joined efforts to strengthen and preserve the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty.
Zhu pointed out that to adopt the resolution demonstrated that the whole world hopes to see the global strategic stability further maintained.
He said China is always ready to join hands with its international counterparts for the issues concerned.
China, as one of the co-sponsors of the resolution, fully appreciated other countries' support of the resolution. China hoped that countries concerned could listen carefully to advice from international counterparts, and take careful steps in anti-ballistic missile issues, Zhu said.
