Chinese Vice-President Meets French Communist Party LeaderVisiting Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao met with Robert Hue, president of the French Communist Party, Sunday in Paris.During the meeting, Hu said that the Chinese Government and people have always attached great importance to the Sino-French relations, which have achieved a sound development with the joint efforts from both sides. For many years, the French Communist Party has done a lot of work which is conducive to the Sino-French relations, said Hu, who arrived here Saturday. He stressed that the Chinese Communist Party is willing to continue to strengthen ties with the French Communist Party on the basis of independence, full equality, mutual respect and no interference into each other's affairs. The two parties should make joint efforts to promote the development of Sino-French relations in the new century, Hu said. Speaking about the construction of the party, Hu said great changes have taken place in the world and China is facing new situation and issues, both internationally and domestically. The thought of "Three Represents," raised by General Secretary Jiang Zemin of the Chinese Communist Party, has principally answered the question of what kind of party the Chinese ruling party should be in the future and how to build the party in the new world. For his part, Hue welcomed Hu to visit France. Hue said his party appreciates the achievement in the opening and reform process, praising the more and more important role China is playing in the international affairs. He also said his party has attached importance to the thought of "Three Represents" and will study the thought seriously. |
