Bin Laden "Does Not Speak for Arabs and Muslims"The Arab League (AL) denounced terror suspect Osama bin Laden here on Sunday for launching terrorism against the whole world. In their joint move, the AL Follow-up Committee repudiated bin Laden, saying he did not represent Arabs and Muslims. The committee, which was set up in October 2000, comprises foreign ministers of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian National Authority, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa. Bin Laden "does not speak for Arabs and Muslims," stated Moussa during the committee meeting, chaired by Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Al-Khatib. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher also decried bin Laden's war as "between him and the world." The meeting, which was opened Sunday, is expected to tackle international terrorism, Arab-Israeli conflict, the protection of Arab nationals in the U.S. and Europe, the impact of the September 11 terror attacks in the U.S on the Middle East and the U.S.-led strikes against Afghanistan.
