Israeli Troops to Withdraw From West Bank TownIsraeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer announced on Sunday that Israeli troops would begin withdrawing from the West Bank city of Qalqilya under Palestinian rule later in the day.Ben Eliezer said at a weekly cabinet meeting that in the coming days, the troops would also likely withdraw from other Palestinian-controlled cities in the West Bank, including Jenin, Tulkarm, Ramallah and Nablus, Israel Radio reported. The Israeli army launched an unprecedented military operation against Palestinian targets after the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi on October 17, and invaded six Palestinian-controlled cities, killing at least 50 Palestinians. Last week, Israeli troops pulled out of the West Bank city of Bethlehem and the nearby town of Beit Jala. Israeli Helicopters Launch Raid on Palestinian Targets in GazaIsraeli helicopters Sunday launched pre-dawn attacks on a number of Palestinian targets in northern Gaza Strip, yet no casualties were reported.Palestinian sources said Israeli helicopters raided pre-selected sites and fired over 10 air-to-surface missiles. Strong sounds of explosions were heard when a missile landed in the edges of Jabalia refugee camp and Beit Lahia near the Karm crossroads in Saladin Street in northern Gaza Strip, the sources added. Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources said the Israeli army also fired a number of surface-to-surface missiles which hit security positions in Jabalia and Beit Lahia areas. One of the missiles landed and went off at an uninhabited area while the others rammed one of the security positions, they noted. The Israeli army confirmed that it had attacked three Palestinian positions in northern Gaza that it said were used to make mortars fired at Jewish settlements in the area.
