Chinese Top Legislator Meets Algerian Parliament Speaker

Chinese Top Legislator Meets Algerian Counterpart
Visiting Chinese top legislator Li Peng met with Algerian President of the National Council (upper house of parliament) Mohammed Sherif Mossaidia Friday in Algiers, both leaders praising the development of bilateral relations.

Li, who is on the last day of his three-day visit to Algeria, told Mossaidia that the Chinese people will never forget Algeria for its important contribution to the resuming of China's legitimate seat at the United Nations in October, 1971.

He expressed satisfaction over the fact that the two countries have been supporting each other in international affairs.

It accords with the common interests of the two countries to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in various fields, he said.

Li said he and Algerian leaders shared identical or similar views in their in-depth discussions on issues like world multi-polarity, economic globalization and fight against terrorism.

Also hailing the bilateral relationship, Mossaidia said Li's visit is a major event in the history of Algerian-Chinese relations.
