Air Control Center Opened in Sanya, Civil Plane Reaches South China Sea

The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) has appointed the Sanya Air Traffic Control Center to provide service to civil airplanes in air area over northern part of South China Sea, beginning from 3:30 am, November 2, Beijing time.

After years of efforts, including that of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a 284, 000 sq.km Sanya air responsibility area has been mapped out over South China Sea, says Su Langen, an air traffic official from CAAC. What��s more, air routes over the sea have been optimized and increase from 3 to 6.

Experts say opening of the air area is a big event for civil aviation in China as well as the whole world, which is beneficial to civil flights in South China Sea and will promote development of international civil aviation.

It is seen that in the control center that staff was skillfully operating hi-tech devices to orderly provide service to each airplane in the area. Full preparation has been made for the opening of Sanya air area, says Su. Best air traffic controllers have been selected out and trained for the center and regulation on working procedure and device operation were made according to international standards. What��s more, searching and aid regulations were also mapped out, and communication and weather supervision strengthened.

The whole preparatory work was supported by relevant departments of China as well as countries nearby, later checked by ICAO and was spoken highly.

CAAC and Sanya Air Traffic Control Center are fully confident that they can guarantee safe and smooth flights in Sanya responsibility area. Civil airplanes from all countries in the area are expected to receive good service. The air traffic jam would be eased as air routes double with airplanes�� safety and punctuality raised.
