FM Spokesman on Execution of ROK Drug TraffickerChinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said Thursday that the Chinese Government had informed the related authorities of the Republic of Korea (ROK) before the convicted ROK drug trafficker was executed.Zhu made this statement in response to a question on the ROK's protest that China had executed Shin Ok-Doo, a ROK man convicted of drug trafficking, without giving prior notification to the ROK Government. The Chinese government hopes the ROK government stop this sort of groundless accusation, said Zhu. According to an in-depth investigation made by the government, related Chinese administrations did immediately inform their ROK counterparts after Shin Ok-Doo was detained and arrested and the China also notified the ROK Embassy in Beijing about the time and venue of Shin's first instance of trial, he said. The Provincial Government of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province also sent the ratified execution judgment by China's Supreme People's Court to the ROK Consulate in Shenyang, the capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, shortly after the judgment was ratified by the Supreme People's Court. |
