Construction Bank Sees Big Rise in Intermediate Business Income

In the first three quarters of this year, the China Construction Bank (CCB) realized a net income of 2.23 billion yuan (about 272 million US dollars) from intermediate businesses, increasing 890 million yuan in a year-on-year comparison.

A spokesman for the CCB said that income from intermediate businesses accounted for 5.8 percent of the bank's total business income for the same period.

He said that in order to meet the challenges arising from China's accession into the World Trade Organization, the CCB has drawn on international advanced experience and adopted the strategy of developing intermediate businesses.

The bank has increased input in product innovation and service improvement in the intermediate business sector, and so far this year its efforts in building inter-bank credit card trading networks and other high-tech systems have been going smoothly.

At present the CCB has opened over 120 intermediate business products in nine categories, including settlement, agent business, banking card, funding, policy housing finance, trust loans, guarantee and consultation.
