Argentine President Fernando De la Rua Thursday declared China's top legislator Li Peng, who will arrive here on an official visit November 7, a "guest of honor," said a presidential decree.

The decree, signed by President De la Rua and Foreign Minister Adalberto Rodriguez Giavarini, said: "The stay in the country of a representative from the Chinese parliament" constituted "an enormous satisfaction for the Argentine government."

During his November 7-12 official visit in Argentina, Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), will meet with President De la Rua and congressional leaders.

Argentina will be the third leg of Li's five-nation North African and Latin American tour which also includes Algeria, Cuba, Uruguay and Tunisia.
