FedEx to Expand Services to 100 more Chinese Cities

The U.S.-based express delivery company Federal Express (FedEx) will expand its services to 100 more Chinese cities over the next five years.

Eddy Chan, vice president of China & Mid Pacific Region of FedEx, made the announcement at an international forum for mayors held recently in north China's Tianjin Municipality.

The business of FedEx in China has been snowballing since it made its debut in the country in 1984. It now can provide services to 190 Chinese cities, with its 11 flights shuttling between China and the outside world each week.

Chan said China's entry into the World Trade Organization will generate more opportunities for FedEx, as more foreign companies will come to invest in China, which will greatly boost the goods circulation between China and other countries.

FedEx now employs about 600 people in China, most of whom are local residents, Chan said.
