Market-Development Plan for 2008 Beijing Olympics Likely to Be Mapped out Early 2003

The market-development plan for 2008 Beijing Olympics is likely to be mapped out at the beginning of 2003 with the joint efforts of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, according to IOC marketing director Michael Payne at a news conference in Beijing on October 30.

Invited by Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, Payne paid a two-day visit to Beijing, discussing on market development of the 2008 Olympics. In the coming 12 months, the IOC will continue its close cooperation with the Beijing side to bring out the final market-developing plan at the beginning of 2003.

According to Payne, market development plays a key role in successfully hosting the Olympic Games. It will obtain not only a lot of funds but also technical support from supporters by tapping the market, which is likely to provide unlimited business opportunities. And international entrepreneurs harbor a great interest in taking part in 2008 Beijing Olympics, he said. He also expressed full confidence in Beijing's capability and bright future in developing the market of 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The IOC will try its best to ensure a successful Olympics in Beijing. And as IOC market director, Payne will do his duty for helping Beijing to draw experiences from other countries' in hosting the grand games. In addition, aside from meeting the commitments as signed with the IOC, Beijing may give full play to its creativity in line with its actual situation for making bigger achievements in exploring the Olympic market.
