Present Action in Afghanistan under UN and OIC Resolutions: SpokesmanThe ongoing action in Afghanistan is being conducted under the resolutions of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Conference, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Aziz Mohammad Khan said on Thursday.Speaking at a daily briefing, Aziz said that the U.N. Security Council resolution passed much earlier that the terror attack in the United States on September 11 demanded the handing over of Usama Bin Laden. About justification of U.N. Secretary General's special envoy on Afghanistan Lakhdar Brahimi's consultations with Pakistan to promote broad-based government in Afghanistan, he said, "we and other countries and international institutions are working as facilitators." "We are not dictating government in Afghanistan. We want to bring all fighting factions in Afghanistan together to put in place a broad-based government indigenously," he said. To a question regarding any plan circulated by Brahimi, the spokesman said no plan for future government has been circulated by Brahimi. Brahimi is here to discuss political process in Afghanistan. It is for Afghans to decide their future political dispensation, said the spokesman. Aziz dismissed the speculative news reports about chances of any change of the government in Pakistan. "The situation is totally normal and peaceful in Pakistan. The small minority taking part in processions are also diminishing now," he added.
