Iran-Ordered Oil Tanker Completed in Northeast China
An oil tanker built for an Iranian company was completed Thursday by China's largest shipbuilder in Dalian, coastal city of northeast Liaoning province.

The oil tanker "VLCC", built by the Dalian New Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd, is the first 300,000-ton oil tanker ever made in China.

The tanker is 330 meters long and 58 meters wide. Construction of the ship began August last year.

The ship was ordered by the National Iranian Tanker Company, which has ordered a total five of the same type oil tankers from the Chinese shipbuilder.

To increase its ship-building capability, Dalian New Shipbuilding has launched a construction project to expand its main shipyard from 365 meters in length to 540 meters.
