Jihad Activist Killed by Israeli Forces in Hebron

An activist of Palestinian radical group of Islamic Jihad (Holy War) was killed Wednesday morning in an assassination operation carried out by Israeli forces in the Palestinian controlled city of Hebron in the West Bank.

Palestinian sources said that an Israeli helicopter fired a missile towards the house of Mohmed Gamil Gadallah, 25, killing him at the scene.

Gadallah was included in Israel's wanted list for his involvement in the killing of Jewish settlers.

The Israeli army has claimed responsibility for the killing. An Israeli security source told Israeli radio that "This operation is within Israel's efforts to foil subversive attacks."

Nearly 70 Palestinians were killed in Israel's targeted killings since the eruption of the Palestinian Intifada (uprising) in September last year.
