Shanghai to Adopt New Mode of Customs ClearanceA new way of customs clearance will be adopted in Shanghai, China's largest foreign trade port, from November 1, an official bulletin said Tuesday.The document, issued by Shanghai Customs and two other government departments, said that enterprises may start customs declarations by filing out required documents over the Internet before the declared imports reach the customs. The electric model is expected to shorten the normal three-day clearance period to less than 24 hours, greatly facilitating goods circulation at the port and reducing inventory costs of enterprises, sources said. The new move is part of Shanghai's endeavor to better the local investment environment. Statistics show that China's customs clearance period for exported goods averages one and a half days. |
