Ford to Further Cooperate with Chinese Auto Maker
Wayne Booker, vice-president of Ford Motor Co., said Wednesday in Nanchang the leading US auto maker is expecting further cooperation with a local Chinese vehicle manufacturer, Jiangling Automobile Group.
Booker, who arrived at this capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, said Chinese enterprises and foreign-funded companies in China will face very good development opportunities and new challenges after China enters the World Trade Organization.
Ford started cooperation with Jiangling Automobile Co., Ltd. in August 1995, and now claims 30 percent of its holdings. The company is Ford's first auto joint venture in China.
Booker said Ford's long-term objectives to establish strategic cooperation ties with Jiangling Automobile Co., Ltd. will not change and the American company is willing to make greater contribution to the development of China's automotive industry.
In a meeting with Booker, Jiangxi Vice-Governor Zhu Yingpei said auto manufacturing has become the province's pillar industry. He said he is looking forward to seeing Ford further develop its business in Jiangxi.
Jiangling Automobile Group, the parent company of Jiangling Automobile Co., Ltd., is one of China's 520 major enterprises and is capable of manufacturing 60,000 automobiles per year.
