Chinese President Jiang Zemin met Tuesday afternoon with Wayne Booker, vice chairman of Ford Motor Company of the United States.

Jiang briefed Booker on China's automobile industry and future development plans, and encouraged Ford to continue its cooperation with China in this sector, especially in China's self-development capacity building.

Booker expressed his thanks for concerned Chinese departments' assistance to the company and said he will continue to help promote U.S.-China friendly ties.

Li Rongrong, minister in charge of China's State Economic and Trade Commission, and James Sasser, senior advisor to Ford and former U.S. ambassador to China, were present at the meeting.
