WTO-related Contracts to Be Signed, China to Officially Join WTO November 11
China is going to officially become a full member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on November 11 with the agreements concerned to be discussed and approved one day in advance at World Trade Organization (WTO) 's Fourth Ministerial Meeting. The meeting is going to be held November 9-13 in Doha, capital of Qatar, said an official from Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation October 29.
China will send an important delegation to Doha, according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman. Much progress has been made in preparation for the meeting, he added, and China holds that the meeting to be held at such an important time will exert a deep impact on the world trade and multilateral trade institutions.
On September 17, all statutory documents concerning China's entry into the WTO were adopted at the 18th WTO working party in Geneva, namely the accession protocol, ending China's 15-year membership negotiations and the work of the China Working Group. Those legal documents will be submitted to the Doha ministerial meeting of the WTO members in November and China is expected to become a full member of the WTO following necessary legal procedures.
After its entry into the WTO China will as promised and in line with the WTO rules further improve China's market economy system and work with the other WTO members for developing a multilateral trade system and world trade and economy as well, said an official of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
China is making relevant efforts for its entry into WTO, remarked Shi Guangsheng, Chinese Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. China has approved three new laws concerning foreign investment and revised or abolished some 2,300 relevant laws, regulations and documents, and China will further perfect its system of policies, laws and regulations in regard to external economic relations.
