Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is scheduled to pay separate official visits to four countries next month, the Thai News Agency(TNA) said Saturday.

Government Spokesman Yongyuth Tiyapairat was quoted as saying that the premier would make the first leg of the visits to Brunei during November 4-5 to attend the 7th ASEAN Summit held at the country's capital of Bandar Seri Begawan.

Leaders of 10 ASEAN member countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand, are set to discuss ways to boost the unity and role of ASEAN in international Community, and the acceleration of future cooperation.

They are also scheduled to discuss the global economic problems, the entry of China in the World Trade Organization, the acceleration of economic cooperation, and the reduction of development gap among ASEAN members.

He said the premier would make an official visit to Japan during November 18-19 at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in trade and investment.

Thaksin would pay a visit to India during November 26-29 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpaye with an aim to boost bilateral trade and investment.

Subsequently, the premier would make a visit to the United States during November 29-30 at the invitation of President George W. Bush for the similar purpose, said Yongyuth.
