Employment of Foreigners Regulated in Shanghai

A special office was set up Monday in this east China Municipality to regulate the local employment of businessmen from foreign countries and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The Shanghai Jinqiao Export Processing Zone initiated the move to better its investment environment, sources said.

As one of the largest export processing zones in China, Jinqiao has attracted some 10 billion U.S. dollars of investment from 24 countries and regions.

Some sixty world-class multinationals, such as General Motors, Siemens and Sharp, have established more than 70 companies in the Zone and employed an increasing number of people from other countries and regions.
