Russia's President Sends Message on Independence Day of Cambodia to Sihanouk

Russian President Vladimir V. Putin sent a message to King Norodom Sihanouk to congratulate the Cambodia's National Day -- Independence Day -- which falls on November 9 and his birthday, a press release from the Office of Royal Palace said Monday in Phnom Penh.

Putin said in the message that on the occasion of the birthday of the king, and Cambodia's Independence day "I sincerely wish you good health and longevity as well as peace, well-being and prosperity to the Cambodian people."

The Russian president highly spoke of the contribution of Sihanouk to the establishment and development of multifaceted ties between the two countries.

He stressed that "in the future these relations will be further strengthened for the benefit of the peoples of our two countries, in the interests of international peace and cooperation."
