Chinese Vice Premier Meets ROK Guests

Qian Qichen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese vice-premier, met Monday with a delegation of politicians from the Republic of Korea (ROK) headed by Choi Byung-yul, deputy president of the ROK Grand National Party.

Qian said he has thought highly of the Sino-ROK cooperation since the two countries established diplomatic ties and he hopes that the bilateral cooperative partnership will witness overall development with joint effort.

China would like to make constructive efforts to maintain peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and will voice support for the action that the north and south sides of the peninsula take to improve relations and realize an independent and peaceful reunification, he added.

Choi Byung-yul noted that the ROK appreciates the economic achievements China has made and also its attitude towards the Korean Peninsula issues.

The cooperation and exchanges between the two countries will benefit bilateral relations, he added.

The delegation is here at the invitation of Chinese Association for International Understanding.
