Beijing Welcomes International Participation in Olympic Construction

In attracting international corporations to participate in 2008 Olympic construction, Beijing will stick to international methods concerning global open bid measures, Jia Qinglin, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Monday in Beijing.

Jia, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with Michel Derbesse, president of the France-based Bouygues Group.

Jia said that Beijing still faces a herculean task in preparing for hosting the Olympics, and the Beijing Municipality is now carefully working on an Olympic operational plan, which is soon to be made public.

"Beijing welcomes international giants like Bouygues to involve themselves in Beijing's Olympic construction for the Olympic Games, " Jia said.

The Bouygues Group is a transnational group specialized in public facilities, road projects, real estate, sewage disposal and telecommunications.
