Sino-US Relations can Continuously Improve and Expand: Chinese PresidentJiang made the remarks Monday in a meeting with Visiting San Francisco (SF) Mayor Willie Brown of the United States and expressed his appreciation for Brown's efforts in past years for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between SF and China and his support for the development of Sino-US relations. Saying that Sino-US relations are improving in general, Jiang recalled his meeting with US President George W. Bush in Shanghai during the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) meetings, saying that they agreed to endeavor to develop bilateral relations of constructive cooperation. He noted that although there are some differences between China and the US, they share wide-ranging and important common responsibilities and interests and there are vast potentials and broad prospects for their future exchanges and cooperation. China's sustained economic growth and upcoming access to the World Trade Organization (WTO) are bound to bring about more business opportunities for all countries including the US, added Jiang. He welcomed US business people, especially those from SF, to cooperate with China. Brown expressed his thanks for Jiang's meeting with the delegation and their delight with the meeting between Jiang and Bush, and he congratulated China on its successful bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games and its coming entry into the WTO. He said his city is ready to expand exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields including economy and trade. Brown and his party are here as guests of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
