Asia IT Ministers' Conference Held in HK

The Asia IT Ministers' Conference, organized as a side program of the World Economic Forum's East Asia Economic Summit 2001, was held in Hong Kong Sunday.

The conference aimed to enhance policy coordination among Asian nations that are taking active actions for the promotion of information technology.

IT Ministers from Japan, Chinese Mainland, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong participated in the conference.

They exchanged views on the formulation of policies and initiatives in their respective economies to harness IT for driving further growth in Asia.

Carrie Yau, secretary for information technology and broadcasting of Hong Kong, presented the 2001 Digital 21 IT Strategy of Hong Kong at the Conference.
