HK Delegation to Compete in 27 Finals of 9th National Games
The delegation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) will compete in 27 finals of the 9th National Games to be held in Guangzhou on November 11, this year.
Donald Tsang, secretary for administration of the Hong Kong SAR, presented the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flag to the Hong Kong delegation to the 9th National Games at the Wan Chai Sports Ground on Sunday and wished the athletes every success in the forthcoming Games.
Participating in the National Games under the SAR flag for the second time, Hong Kong would be represented by a strong delegation of 138 athletes and 88 officials in 27 finals of the 9th National Games.
Speaking at the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Delegation Flag Presentation Ceremony, Tsang said he was glad to see that Hong Kong athletes had been well prepared and were ready to achieve breakthrough and excel at the Games.
Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Preparation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Delegation to the 9th National Games, also called on athletes to cherish the chance of participating in the National Games to gain more experiences and strive for the best results.
The flag presentation ceremony was followed by a torch run at the Wan Chai Sports Ground.
On November 1, the torches of all provinces, municipalities and organizations would be put together in Guangzhou. The main torch would then be lit up at the opening of the 9th National Games on November 11.
