Body of Abdul Haq Buried in Afghanistan

The Taliban Sunday morning buried the body of the executed opposition commander Abdul Haq in Serkhrod, 12 kilometers south of Jalalabad, according to the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

Haji bin Mohammed, brother of Abdul Haq told AIP in Peshawar that the body was taken by his family members from capital Kabul to eastern city of Jalalabad where the Taliban prohibited them from going towards Pakistan.

The executed opposition commander was then buried in Serkhrod at 3:00 in the morning.

Abdul Haq, a renowned Afghan opposition commander, was executed Friday for treason under a religious decree issued by a meeting of Afghan religious scholars.

He was the most well-known commander of Hizb-e-Islami organization during the time of Afghan Jihad (Holy War) against Soviet invasion.
