Reports on Social Security, Monetary Policy Given at NPC Meeting

Chinese officials delivered reports on social security and monetary policy at the 24th session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) held Friday.

NPC Standing Committee Chairman Li Peng attended the meeting.

Minister Zhang Zuoji of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security told the lawmakers of the current achievements made and problems to be solved in China' social security system.

Governor Dai Xianglong of the People's Bank of China spoke on China's prudent fiscal policy.

NPC Standing Committee Vice-Chairman Buhe also delivered a report on the enforcement of the agriculture law in three provinces.

NPC Standing Committee Holds 24th Meeting

The Standing Committee of China 's Ninth National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislative body, held its 24th meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Monday.

The meeting, presided over by Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, examined a draft law on government purchases and a revised law on cultural relics protection.
