Philippine President: Visit to China Will Boost Relations

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said Friday that her two-day visit to Hong Kong and Beijing next week would further boost relations between the Philippines and China.

In her weekly press conference in the Presidential Palace, Arroyo said high on her agenda during the visit, scheduled for October 29-31, will be discussions on trade and investments, cultural exchanges and the common goal of jointly fighting transnational crimes.

Arroyo said during her state visit, the Philippines will sign with China three agreements on fighting transnational crimes, narcotics and on extradition.

During her visit to Hong Kong, the president said, she will hold talks with Tung Chee-Hwa, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
