Senior Leader Claims China is a Safe Place to Invest

A senior Chinese leader told a host of representatives from multinational corporations that China is a safe place to invest.

Chen Jinhua, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) made these remarks at a forum on cooperation between east China's Anhui Province and transitional companies held at the scenic Huangshan Mountain Tuesday.

The former minister of the State Development Planning Commission said China's economy has maintained steady growth amid the world slowdown thanks to its active fiscal policy and measures to stimulate domestic demand.

He is optimistic that the healthy development will facilitate big projects like the projects to develop the vast western areas, such as the transmission of power from west to east and the Qinghai-Tibet railway.

"These projects requiring large investment will create business opportunities for multinational companies," he said.

Chen said he hopes that a stable China both politically and economically will be the first choice for international investors.
