Funeral for Great Patriot Chang Hsueh-liang Held

The funeral of Chinese patriot Chang Hsueh-liang was held in Hawaii of the United States on the morning of October 23.

More than 500 people attended the service in Honolulu, including He Yafei, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in the United States.

A wreath from Chinese President Jiang Zemin was displayed at the funeral parlor. Other high-level Chinese officials who presented wreaths include Li Ruihuan, Chiarman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of CPPCC National Committee, and He Luli, chairman of the Central Committee of Revolution Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.

He Yafei expressed condolences on behalf of President Jiang and the Chinese government to Chang's relatives.

Chang's two children, Robert L. Chang and Pauline L.Tao, asked He to send their thanks to President Jiang, other Chinese leaders and the Chinese government.

They noted that Chang Hsueh-Liang loved the motherland deeply, and always believed in and expected the reunification of China.

Chang was buried beside his wife, who died last year, on a mountain slope.
