New Sea Route Links China and ROK
A new international sea route between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK)for both passenger and cargo was launched recently, and is said to be the shortest China-ROK nautical route at a length of 102 sea miles.
The new line will link the Longyan Port, located at Rongcheng city of east China's Shandong province, and ROK's Pyongtaek Port.
Longyan Port, covering an area of about one million square meters, now has three berths of over 10,000 dwts, five over 5,000 dwts and two specialized container berths.
Transportation across the new line will be carried out by Rongcheng Dalong Shipping Company Ltd., a China-ROK joint venture, sources said.
The company has put a 18,000-dwt Italian cargo vessel into operation, which departs from Longyan Port every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and completes the trip to Pyongtaek Port in 13 hours.
The opening of the shortest route between China and ROK is of great significance to the bilateral cultural, economic and trading exchanges, which will further promote the friendship between the two countries.
