People's Daily Editorial Hails Program for Ethic Construction
People's Daily publishes an editorial Thursday hailing a program for raising ethic standards devised by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
The editorial says it is momentous to carry out a program to raise people's ideological and moral standards. The program follows the rule of law and the rule by morals put forward by President Jiang Zemin.
It says the program incorporates the best of the nation's traditional ethics, develops the admirable ethics formed during the longtime revolutionary struggles and construction, and borrows from the experience and achievement scored by other countries in advancing their civilization.
It reflects the wisdom of the whole Party and people across the country, the editorial says.
The program is necessary for realizing a society with ethic and moral standards. It also guarantees the healthy development of the socialist market economy, upgrades the quality of the whole nation, and pushes forward the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, says the editorial.
