Chinese Lawmakers Review Amendments to Trade Union Law

Members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, meet Wednesday to review draft amendments to the Trade Union Law.

Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the meeting.

The legislators agreed that the draft amendments to the law reflect the changes in the relations between workers and enterprises.

The law will give more clear-cut protection for workers' rights, and will stress the responsibility of trade unions in improving the quality of workers, a legislator said.
