Bulgarian-Chinese Trade Up by 30 Percent in January-August 2001Bulgarian-Chinese trade in January-August this year totaled 77 million U.S. dollars, or up by 30 percent from the same period last year, the commercial secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Sofia, Li Lianzhong, said during a trip to Haskovo (Eastern Bulgaria) Tuesday.The Bulgarian exports are made up mostly of raw materials for chemicals and food industry, and spare parts. According to the Chinese commercial secretary, the efforts of the two countries must focus on balancing the commercial exchange. The commercial secretary and secretary for cultural affairs came here to meet with the district and municipal government and local business people. Later this year Haskovo is expecting a delegation from the Chinese town of Xi'an to come on a visit and sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two cities.
