Chinese Hostage Returns Safely to Motherland

Freed Hostage Zhang Zhongyi Back Home
Chinese national Zhang Zhongyi arrived in Xiamen, a city in east China's Fujian Province Tuesday.

He flew by Southern China Airlines from Manila.

He was released by his captors in southern Philippines on Saturday after being held more than two months. Zhang was kidnapped with Edwin Lim, his interpreter and two other Chinese workers on August 12 after managing to rescue Zhang Zhongqiang, the elder brother of Zhang Zhongyi who was abducted by the same group on June 20.

The Zhangs were engineers at an irrigation project on the southern island of Mindanao.
