Chinese President Meets APEC Security Personnel

Chinese President Jiang Zemin had words of high praise for the commitment and outstanding performance of public security and armed police officers during the just-closed Ninth Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Meeting.

Jiang made the remarks in a meeting with public security representatives in Shanghai Tuesday.

Security played an important part in the success of the APEC summit, Jiang told them. Public security officers worked day and night to ensure the smooth operation of the meeting, said Jiang.

Jiang encouraged all public security officers to continue to demonstrate the same high quality performance in their day-to-day work.
