Int'l Garment Festival Closes in NingboThe Fifth International Garment Festival closed here Monday, with a record trading volume of 4.8 billion yuan (about 578 million U.S. dollars).During the festival, 30 contracts were signed between Chinese and foreign enterprises, involving a total investment of 273 million US dollars. Delegates representing 40 international famous fashion brands attended the festival, they came from 14 countries and regions, including the United States, France, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Ningbo is China's best-known fashion center, producing 1.3 billion garments per year, accounting for 12 percent of the country's total. The city has set up China's largest garment-production base -- the Yongor International Garment Base -- which covers 42 hectares and involved a total investment of 600 million yuan (about 72 million U.S. dollars). Yongor is one of China's largest garment makers. It has occupied the largest market share of shirts and suits in China in recent years. |
