Workshop on Import-Export Goods Trade Legislation

A three-day conference on legislation for import and export goods, which was co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation ( MOFTEC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), opened here Monday.

With its entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) looming, China is quickening its steps to improve its legislation concerning foreign trade management, experts told the conference.

Experts believe that the future enactment of new regulations concerning exports and imports will help China better conform to the obligations for WTO members, and enjoy more advantages brought by the multilateral trade systems and economic globalization.

Chinese imports and exports were worth 474.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2000, according to MOFTEC sources.
