China to Hold International Conference on Project Management

The First International Conference on Project Management of China is scheduled to be held in April 2002.

The conference is co-sponsored by the State Economic and Trade Commission, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

During the Conference, decision-makers from China's central and local governments, representatives from international financial institutions and investors, specialists engaged in project management as well as entrepreneurs, are going to exchange their latest research results and management successes and seek practical approaches to common issues existing in project management.

According to the organizer, the main aim of this event is to upgrade China's level of project management to international standards to help Chinese enterprises improve their competitiveness in a global market, form an improved development environment for foreign investors, and at the same time explore the possibility of international cooperation in project investment, financing and management.

The publications "The Outline of Project Management Knowledge System of China" and "Qualification Criteria for Project Management Professionals" will also be discussed and released at the conference.

Project Management, initiated during the Second World War, is still a popular management science widely applied to the operation of governments, enterprises, social organizations, construction industries, technological transformation, research and development as well as system and policy research.
