NPC Standing Committee Holds 24th Meeting
The Standing Committee of China 's Ninth National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislative body, held its 24th meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Monday.
The meeting, presided over by Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, examined a draft law on government purchases and a revised law on cultural relics protection.
Gu Angran, Hu Guangbao, Zhang Xuwu and Qiao Xiaoyang, vice- chairmen of the NPC's Law Committee, briefed participants on the results of the examination of these laws.
Qiao Xiaoyang also gave an explanation on the main issue concerning the draft law on electing delegates to the 10th NPC in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
