Chinese Acrobatics Show Interests Italian MediaThe State TV Station of Italy has bought the right to broadcast the upcoming 8th China Wuqiao International Circus Festival (CWICF) to Europe at a cost of 60,000 US dollars, marking a breakthrough for the prestigious acrobatic event to enter the European mass media market. The festival runs from October 27 to November 4 in Shijiazhuang, capital city of north China's Hebei Province. Since 1987, the biennial event has attracted more than 200 acrobatic groups from over 30 countries and regions. A 10-member group, including directors and technical crew, will come from Italy to give full coverage on the splendid acrobatics gala along with China Central Television (CCTV) and the Hebei TV station. The Italian team will also develop a series of television programs about the Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing and the Wuqiao-based Acrobatic World. Journalists from Mongolia, Russia and some other countries will also cover the festival. The programs to be staged in the upcoming event are much developed in terms of acrobatic skills and entertainment value, said Bian Faji, chairman of the CWICF Jury Committee and vice- chairman of the China Acrobatic Artists Association. Some programs use high-tech materials and some of the acrobatics demonstrate stunning speed and precision, Bian said. Wuqiao, well-known for its acrobatics tradition, has been called the "cradle of acrobatics." |
