Another Large Oilfield Put into Production at Bohai BayFollowing the 36 - 1 Oil-field at Suizhong, the first phase of another oilfield, Qinhuangdao 32 - 6, a large one of some 100 million tons was formally put into production sometime ago at the Bohai Bay.Located some 130 kilometers away to the east of Tanggu in the middle of the Bohai Bay the Qinhuangdao 32 - 6 Oilfield was discovered in 1995 with a probed oil reserve of over 100 million tons, covering an oil-bearing area of 44 square kilometers at a water-depth of 20 meters. Consisting of six wellhead platforms, one single-point berth, a floating oil-tanker and 12 submarine pipelines and six seabed electric cables, the whole oilfield, being divided into three construction phases, will be brought to an end by the year of 2002, with an annual output of 4.5 million tons on the average. The first phase of project developed includes A and B wellhead platforms, 29 production wells, a single-moored berth and a pontoon tanker. The floating tanker known as "Bohai Shiji" in Chinese, measures 298 meters in length with a storing capacity of 150,000 tons, which is so far the largest of the floating equipment in China. The Qinhuangdao 32 - 6 oilfield under exploration is the first of suchlike on the sea in which the Chinese side is responsible for the production with an equity of 51 percent and the rest shared out by the two companies of the US and Britain. As informed when the first phase of the Qinhuangdao 32 - 6 project is put into production the other two phases will also follow up one after another. And when all completed it will lay a sound foundation for an annual production of 20 million tons of crude oil by the year 2005.
